Ellen Wangerheim is one of the most exciting young forwards in European women’s football. Born in 2004, she joined Hammarby IF at just 15 and quickly established herself as a natural goalscorer, going on to score 65 goals in 138 appearances over six years at the club.
After overcoming a serious ACL injury in 2022, Ellen came back stronger than ever, helping Hammarby win the Damallsvenskan title and Svenska Cupen in 2023. In 2025, she scored a remarkable 17 league goals and 11 cup goals in six matches to fire Hammarby to another cup trophy, finishing as the competition’s top scorer.
Her performances attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg before she signed for Manchester United in January 2026. A Nike athlete and Sweden international, Ellen was part of Sweden’s squad for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. 8

Manchester United are delighted to announce the signing of Sweden international Ellen Wangerheim on a three-year deal, which sees her at the club until June 2029.
The 21-year-old has won one league title and two domestic cups, with over 100 competitive appearances for Hammarby.
